Yuuta, drop me a line when you get a chance, would you?

It looks like my little sister is headed toward stage design. That was a very impressive production.

You and Ogata-kun, both.

Everyone seems to be doing well, actually. Our various doubles pairings are coming along very nicely indeed, which I know relieves Ishii-buchou. Myself as well, for that matter; depending solely on singles is not wise if it can be avoided.

As for other interesting developments... *smiles* Well, perhaps I won't go into those here.

Perfection doesn't come along very often, in this world. I think I have more than my fair share.

I can't regret a single breath of it.

*wry* There are times when it's good to remember that the very best players are the most troublesome ones.

If it isn't one damn thing, it's another!

*sighs* Some problems are made, others are solved. I suppose that's just standard. Well, at least we got to finish out the season with him, and we have a chance of meeting him next season as a rival which is not a tragedy by any means. *sniffs* Though, really, he's too good for Shishigaku.

Hm. Now that it's cooling down, I think some extra endurance training might be in order. And definitely a nice long round of precision exercises for everyone. We've had a chance to relax and regroup after the stress of tournament season. Now it's time to settle into the training season.

That was... perfect.

*smiles* Maybe the universe thinks it has something to make up for, too.

Well, fortunately no one we know was injured, on Tuesday, and there's no damage here that isn't easily repairable. Of course, Kaa-san told me that, when I called, but it's good to see for myself.

It's a shame I didn't get the chance to play Atobe; it's been some time since we had a match. But I suppose I shouldn't be greedy. I did get a very nice match, indeed, with Fuji. It's good to see him motivated, at last, and progressing. More high level opponenets are always welcome.

*smiles* Speaking of which, congratulations Akaya.

Narita-buchou is looking smug. I find this rather amusing.

Of course, he isn't the only one.

Takanawadai for the second round, I'm betting. After that... hm. Shitenhouji often has something up their sleeves, and something unconventional as often as not. But I think I still expect to meet Hyoutei for the Quarterfinals.

They might have a doubles pair worth the effort, too.

I wonder, sometimes, whether this is why my sister has never gone for any kind of team sports. She's perfectly capable of performing, impressively, no matter the crisis. But the unexpected popping up does make her hysterical spastic amusing edgy. Individual performance certainly cuts down on that kind of thing.

Personally, I can't see the fun in cutting down on it, but that's me.

It's getting there. Slowly, but progress is measurable; I think, before he graduates, I will be half and half in my games with Narita-buchou.

I had better be, since he isn't going on professionally, and this is my last chance at him while he's in top form.

Well, that was an eventful handful of days.

I feel like Obaa-san should be writing summer letters to me, instead of her friends in other cities. If I were one of my plants, I'd think I needed extra watering, and maybe a gauze sunshade for the month of August.

Hope you are coping well with the heat. Indeed.

That was a very good game. So I suppose I can't complain too much, unlike Narita-buchou who's been stalking around with a disgusted look ever since.

I think he wanted the match with Tezuka for himself. I hope Yamato-san isn't too sore, today; it didn't look like Narita-buchou was holding back at all, with him.

Of course, neither did Genichirou. *pleased*

And you've been driving yourself hard, as well, Tezuka. It shows.

Actually, the games against Yamabuki were good ones, too, though I doubt Yamabuki would agree. It's been a very long time since Genichirou and I played doubles at such a high pitch. *small smile* And I trust you're satisfied with your match, Tachibana? It looked like it, at any rate.

That's one even I wouldn't want to try to tame--though I wish Banda-sensei all luck, of course.

The butterflies have all hatched, for the season. I saw several over the pool in the garden, this evening.

Of all the things to remind me that other parts of my life will still be here, when the rush of the season is done.

Mukahari was no competition, which I suppose I expected. It's rare for the first round to give us a strong team. The games against Miyashiro were more lively.

For me, at least; Narita-buchou looks set to wait things out again. It reminds me of one of the more unpleasent parts of being captain--the waiting. *grins* Ishii-senpai can have it, next year.

Yamabuki next weekend, though. And if that glint in Narita-buchou's eye means anything... Tachibana, you might want to get ready.
